JETTING OFF WITH THE FAMILY FOR EASTER: CAN YOU AFFORD TO SKIMP ON TRAVEL INSURANCE?

Direct Travel Insurance warns against the risks of going away without adequate travel insurance, by making public last Easter’s most significant claims figures.

With the economy slowly recovering, more families will be considering going away this Easter. Skimping on travel insurance by either purchasing insufficient cover or not including it at all may leave travellers out of pocket, as shown by these figures from Direct Travel Insurance’s claims department:

Worldwide travel insurance claims from Direct Travel Insurance – Easter 2009:

·         44% of all claims related to medical expenses, including emergency repatriation (an average of £2,640 was claimed per person)

·         20% of all claims related to lost or damaged luggage (an average of £240 was claimed per person)

·         22% of all claims were for cancelling or cutting short a holiday (an average of £700 was claimed per person)

Paul Thilo, Vice President - Consumer Marketing at Direct Travel Insurance said: “As shown by our claims figures, regardless of your holiday budget, not purchasing travel insurance or choosing the cheapest policy available - without considering what you would not be covered for – is a risky way of saving some money before a trip. Choose the right policy for your needs and always make sure you disclose any medical conditions.”

10 days worldwide* travel insurance with Direct Travel Insurance costs only £22 per person and includes cover for cancellation, personal possessions and money. Visit www.direct-travel.co.uk or call 0845 605 2700.

*Excludes the US, Canada and the Caribbean

Yasmin Le Bon Spring collection for Wallis launches on 29th March 2010, exclusively at wallis.co.uk. As it’s exclusively online, you’ll be able to get your hands on some gorgeous dresses.

This is Yasmin Le Bon’s second collection for Wallis; following the success of her first collection its no surprise there’s another fabulous range in high demand. Yasmin has been involved in the design and all the pieces reflect her Persian influences and sophisticated style.

The YLB collection is the ultimate in elegant, feminine dressing and this is the latest eagerly anticipated range. It is a breathtaking assortment of timeless pieces which will remain in wardrobes for many seasons to come.

A treasure trove of exquisite dresses; the collection offers floor-length maxi showpieces with a fusion of contemporary style. For a more dramatic splash of colour, there’s a beautiful blue dress that will turn heads for miles. The collection is a modern take on the must-have spring/summer pieces. There are plenty of covetable pieces, so be quick before they sell out. From flowing dresses to structured trousers, you’ll be spoilt for choice.

Shape and texture is important to the range with dresses creating classic pieces and flattering silhouettes. The YLB range is directional and eye-catching which comes together in an elegant way.

SPRING INTO STYLE

With a new season upon us and fabulous new Spring fashions currently filling the online rails, are you wondering what the key fashion looks are for this Spring / Summer? Women’s fashion this season is so strong and the collection at Wallis is all available in petite clothing too!

1) RUFFLES

Start your SS makeover with ruffles. Seen on all the runways, this is one trend that’s fun, flirty and attention-grabbing. So take your pick from the prettiest ruffles dresses and tops of the season

2) EMBELLISHMENT

Embellishment has been a key fashion story since last Spring and is now even better than ever! Beautiful beading on tops and jewel detail on dresses add extra interest to your look. Prada embraced embellishment on tops and dresses, whilst Burberry Prosum showcased stunning embellished handbags. Get the look with this flattering and feminine Wallis dress

3) NEUTRALS

The new neutral look is so easy to wear - simply mix and match stone, beige, cream, white, brown and even pastels to make a modern, fresh outfit for Spring. Chloe, Phi and Akris all promoted this new top trend in their latest shows.

4) TREASURE-CHEST JEWELLERY

This season, the number one jewellery item is an eye-catching, antique-look, statement necklace with colourful beads. Statement necklaces took to the runway at Dolce & Gabbana and Lavin. They’re timeless, classic pieces with a chic modern twist.

5) STATEMEMT BAGS

Statement bags made their entrance at Louis Vuitton, Paul & Joe, Just Cavalli, Proenza Schouler and Isabel Marant too, so this is certainly one must have look! Wallis has a fabulous collection of bags this season – I love the green croc hobo bag – it’s the ideal arm candy for this Spring!

Finally, you’ll also score high in this season’s style stakes if you add florals, pastels, digital graphic prints and monochrome to your shopping list for the months ahead. With a wardrobe this good, you belong on the catwalk yourself!
